Compress an Image to an Exact File Size

Choose a real 50KB, 100KB, 200KB, 500KB or 1MB browser preset, estimate the required reduction and process multiple images without uploading them.

Pick the ceiling that matches the destination

Each page opens a working compressor with different dimensions, format and starting quality. These are not title-swapped copies: the 50KB workflow is deliberately aggressive, while the 1MB workflow preserves larger dimensions and more detail.

Reduction calculator

Enter the original file size and destination ceiling. The calculator shows the minimum percentage reduction required before any encoder overhead or image-specific behavior.

A 2400KB file must shrink by at least 91.7% to reach 200KB.

Why exact size is iterative

File size depends on dimensions, image complexity, transparency, encoder and quality. Kompixa probes more than one setting rather than pretending one quality value guarantees a specific result.

Use a margin

Some services count decimal kilobytes and some count binary kilobytes. When the destination rule is strict, choose a target slightly below its published maximum.

Verify visually

Inspect faces, text, gradients, hair and repeated patterns. A file can meet the byte limit and still be unsuitable for its intended display size.
