A 1920 × 1080 browser screenshot was processed locally with Kompixa. The output kept the same pixel dimensions and finished far below the 500 KB ceiling.

Kompixa searches for a result under the selected ceiling. A simple screenshot may compress far below the limit, while a detailed photograph may need lower quality or smaller dimensions. PNG output is lossless and may remain larger than JPEG or WebP.

The 500KB value is treated as a maximum, not a promise that every output will be exactly 500KB. The browser first searches quality at the selected dimensions and reduces dimensions only when quality alone cannot reach the ceiling.
For JPEG, WebP and supported AVIF output, Kompixa performs up to nine quality probes in each round, starting between quality 18% and the selected starting quality.
If the minimum tested quality remains above the target, dimensions are reduced to 84% of the previous round. The process can repeat for up to seven rounds.
The browser PNG encoder does not expose the same lossy quality control. A PNG target is therefore not treated like a JPEG, WebP or AVIF target.
The Target KB Estimator can probe one representative image first. Completed batch cards then show the measured output size and dimensions for every file.
